What to add to your Baby Registry

Creating a baby registry can be daunting; everyone has their favorites and things they would pass on. We hope to make it easier for you by sharing our favorite must-haves. Of course with any list making the possibilities are endless so we couldn't give you everything, buts its a good start!

GENERAL

  1. LOULOU LOLLIPOP Color Pop Silicone and Wood Pacifier Clip - Great clip and teether for drooly and teething babies

  2. LOULOU LOLLIPOP Bubble Silicone & Wood Teething Rattle - Dual jobs is always a plus, toy + teether are always a win!

  3. VULLI Fanfan the Fawn Teether - Cousin to Sophie the Giraffe this teether is a crowd favorite and unique, not everyone has it!

  4. WUBBANUB Pacifier - Again, dual purpose is always a win, our kiddos weren't into pacifiers but they love chewing on the pacifier and cuddling the little soft animal.

  5. Dr. Brown’s HappyPaci - Our mom friends swear this is the best one! We have probably 20 pacifiers in our house and the boys don't want anything to do with them so they hang out in a canister in the nursery.

BABY GEAR

  1. TINY LOVE 4-in-1 Here I Grow Mobile Activity Center - Great for babies who are able to sit somewhat assisted to walkers, keeps them entertained and balanced for when they are learning to walk

  2. Skip Hop Forma Diaper Bag Backpack - This has worked for one and two babies, we are able to fit all our necessities in here!

  3. SNUGGLE ME ORGANIC Organic Infant Lounger - Great for relaxing in the living room, our babies are so long they outgrew this pretty quick.

  4. HALO Micro-Fleece Sleepsack Swaddle & HALO Sleepsack Micro-Fleece Wearable Blanket - Yes yes yes! Get them all. The swaddle sleepsack is great for newborns -3 mths, once they reach 3 months they might start to roll so a sleepsack is the next phase!

  5. BRITAX Back Seat Mirror - Needed for your car, there may be cheaper versions out there and I'm sure many many options.

TRAVEL

  1. YOGASLEEP The Travel Kit - This is something we keep in our diaper bag always, we bring it everywhere we go! You never know when you'll need a sound machine for naptimes

  2. SKIP HOP Stroll & Go Car Seat Cover - Necessity for cold winters, especially in the MidWest.

  3. Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 All-Terrain Travel System - We love this system we just wish the double stroller wasn't double wide!

  4. Complete 6-in-1 All Seasons Baby Carrier - We use this so much especially flying but its great for quick trips that you don't want to load and unload a car seat or stroller.

  5. Lotus Travel Crib - This is our favorite, its easy to put up and take down, light weight for traveling, and sturdy for those wrestling matches your toddler might have before bed.

BATH

  1. PARKER BABY CO. Premium Hooded Bath Towel - Hooded towels are a win, and the softer the better

  2. SKIP HOP Moby Smart Sling 3-Stage Bath Tub - perfect for newborns until kiddos are able to sit unassisted. Our boys outgrew them around 2-3 months but that's because they are giants.

  3. Munchkin Bath Bobbers Baby and Toddler Bath Toy - bath toys are good to have once your little once is able to grasp - these were Lincoln's first bathtoys and are still one of his favorites.

  4. Gerber Washcloth - Soft washcloths are a yes, you will want them to be able to hold water, some of them aren't as good.

  5. Hello Bello Extra Gentle Shampoo & Body Wash - Free and Clear shampoo/body wash is a need for your new baby, if you get a Hello Bello Diaper Subscription box you can easily add extras to your order. Otherwise, you can always buy these one offs - be sure it is gentle on babies skin, some of the options out there can be drying and irritating.

NURSING / BOTTLE

  1. BOPPY Bare Naked Original Feeding and Infant Support Pillow & BOPPYOrganic Fabric Nursing Pillow Cover - This is a staple in feeding, once your baby is big enough you probably will find this a hinderance but its helpful for those newborn stages.

  2. BABY BREZZA Formula Pro Advanced - Lifechanging! We thought i was going to breastfeed forever with Lincoln, but sadly he ate so aggressively and so much we moved to formula by 5 months. This machine is like a keurig for formula and amazing at 2:00 am feedings.

  3. Yoofoss Muslin Burp Cloths - Get these and stash them everywhere in your house, you will thank us later.

  4. HIPP HA Stage Pre Combiotic Formula -This is the formula we used with Lincoln. We started with the comfort formula for infants but found that he had a sensitive stomach to dairy so switch to this one, eventually we moved to oatmilk after his first birthday. We chose a formula that wasn't from the USA for its ingredients, #1 being that sugar solids was not one, especially since he is more prone to diabetes since he was a larger baby and I had gestational diabetes while pregnant with him.

  5. Dr. Brown’s Natural Flow - We've tried so many bottles and eventually we ended up with Advent Natural Flow, however our mom friends swear that this is the bottle of choice!

* Nursing Mom's See our post on our Top 5 Breastfeeding Products & be sure to add a nursing wrap/cover to your registry :)

FEEDING

  1. INGLESINA Fast Table Chair & INGLESINA Fast Table Chair Dining Tray Plus - We love this highchair, it takes little space and it easily attaches to our table.

  2. MUNCHKIN Snack Catcher (2 Pack) - great snack storage for babies just starting out

  3. OXO TOT Baby Blocks 12-Piece Freezer Storage Container Set - We used this for our homemade baby food storage. We still use it for finger paints and leftovers.

  4. Loulou Lollipop Soft, Waterproof Silicone Feeding Bib - Silicone bibs are a must and deep pockets to catch food is even better!

  5. DOQAUS Ice Cube Trays 4 Pack, Easy-Release Silicone & Flexible - Used this to freeze our homemade babyfoods, just took out a cube or two for each meal.

NURSERY

  1. OXO TOT Drawer Divider - We have multiple sets for the dresser we have in the nursery, the top drawer we have set for our diapers, wipes, ointments, etc. The second drawer holds August's clothes and the third drawer is odds and ends.

  2. NEWTON BABY Waterproof Breathable Crib Mattress - We love this mattress and got the kids mattress for Lincoln's big boy bed. Its easy to clean and you don't have to worry about having a soggy mattress.

  3. HATCH Rest Baby Night Light, Sound Machine & Time-to-Rise - Sound machine and night light, we used this a lot with Lincoln but now both boys have an alexa in their rooms. We have friends who use this as a way to let their kids know when its ok to wake up and come out of their room with the different colors (i.e. red means sleep, green mean wake up )

  4. Delta Children Epic Nursery Glider Swivel Rocker Chair - Simple glider for your nursery, we have used it for both boys and have washed it once, its stayed in good shape and is comfortable to rock your sweet babe to sleep.

  5. Baby Mobile - So many options out there, when we found this mobile that was handmade from Ukraine I knew I needed to get it for the nursery. I may actually get a second one and pack them away for keepsakes for the boys.

HEALTH & SAFETY

  1. OWLET Owlet x Babylist Dream Duo - This has been a lifesaver. As a new parent you worry so. much about your baby and this helps put your mind at ease. It had built in alarms for when your baby's oxygen and heart rate levels drop or get too high. If your baby is sick it's a good tool to monitor these things before you head to the ER.

  2. BINK Dots Safety Plugs - Safety plugs, Plug everything! Seriously!! While your at it get some safety locks for your cabinets too.

  3. Little Remedies Gripe Water - If you baby has colic or struggles with gas, this is a must, another great resource is Mylicon Gas Drops for Infants

  4. FRIDABABY Bitty Bundle of Joy & FRIDABABY Electric NoseFrida Nasal Aspirator - Bitty Bundle of Joy has all your essential things you never knew you needed. If you use the windi, be careful (maybe wear some protection) we've heard of some scarry blowouts! Also, we suggest upgrading to the electric nosefrida and keeping the manual one for travel or backup. Emily once got sneeky booger that went through the filter on the manual one and she has been traumatized from booger sucking!

  5. KINSA QuickCare Digital Thermometer - This is a great tool to help you track your baby's temperature, especially if they are stick. You can monitor and track the temperatures, medications, and it gives you little reminders and memos for when your kiddo does strike a fever.

DIAPERING

  1. Hello Bello Diaper Subscription - Must have! We love our hello hello subscription. The diapers are soft and durable on our boys sensitive skin.

  2. MUNCHKIN Diaper Bag Dispenser & Refills - Cuz you need a place for those stinky diapers. If you have a dog you can also use doggy bags. This is great for traveling and no garbage is around.

  3. Keekaroo The Peanut Changer Baby Diaper Changing Pad - Best changing pad! No need for covers, it's easy to clean and comfortable for baby

  4. Munchkin STEP Diaper Pail, Powered by Arm & Hammer & Refill bags - Stinky Diaper Pail, You'll need this. Has an easy to rip system for the bag, just tie and throw away.

  5. Aquaphor Healing Ointment - Great for diaper rashes, healing scars or if you have a baby boy, circumsions.

Things We Would Pass On

Not everything works for every family, here are some things we would say no to based on our experiences.

  1. Mama Roo - We got this and neither boys really used it. After talking to other parents most have said the same thing, but again each kiddo is different.

  2. Jolly Jumper- Lincoln used this for a very short time, he outgrew it very quickly!

  3. Play Gym- We have probably used this more with August than we did with Lincoln but both boys just prefer people interaction

  4. Swaddles - Swaddles without shoulder straps are a wast in the Boyko House, both boys hated being swaddled and were pro wigglers, they would wiggle right out of them in no time!

  5. Amma Cocoon Nursing Cover- This cover could be great for some, but for me it lacked privacy (too see through) and was very small not fitting over my large babies for enough coverage.
