Red Cabbage Power Food: Purple Power Smoothie

With the New Year usually comes new resolutions. Some we keep and some, not so much. The most popular health resolution people made was to lose weight, specifically by eating healthier and exercising more.


Whether you are planning a new diet, looking to eat cleaner or healthier, this purple power smoothie will give you the health kick you need to start the New Year.


Why Red Cabbage?


Red cabbage has large amounts of antioxidants and is a source of vitamin a (as beta-carotene), C, K, manganese, and is loaded with iron! Studies say that eating red cabbage raw rather than cooked has cancer-protective benefits.



Purple Power Smoothie:


2 cups chopped red cabbage

1-2 cups blueberries (frozen or fresh)

1 medium banana (peeled)

8 ounces of water/ juice/ milk- milk substitute

2 teaspoons Honey/ Agave / Stevia {optional}


If you want an extra boost to add 2 teaspoons of Chia Seeds! {Soak for 10 min}



Why add chia seeds to your diet?


Chia seeds allegedly combat diabetes with their ability to slow down digestion, the coating on chia seeds can also prevent blood sugar spikes by stabilizing insulin. They are also high in Fiber, Omega-3, Calcium, Manganese, Phosphorus, and Protein. Not to mention they help Fight Belly Fat and improve Heart Health!
